Universal City uses Universal City Alerts (Mass Notification System | CivicReady) to send emergency alerts and other notifications. Subscribers can register to receive emergency alerts and other notifications via phone call, text message, and/or email. (Some users who were previously registered with Blackboard Connect may already be registered. If your account already exists, please log into your account and update your alert preferences.)

Universal City Alerts are available for the following groups:

  • Emergency Alerts
  • General Universal City Notifications
  • City Council - City Council meeting and agendas
  • Events - Community activities and special events
  • Public Services - interruptions/changes to water/utilities, WM collections, road closures


Option 1 to Subscribe: Set up an Online Account

To create an account to personalize your alert subscription including emergency, groups, and weather alerts: Universal City Alerts (Mass Notification System | CivicReady)

Subscribers can register to receive emergency alerts and other notifications via phone call, text message, and/or email.  Additional alerts are available including weather and area emergency alerts.

VOICE CALLS ARE SENT FROM 830-465-3175 and can be sent to landlines or cell phones. We recommend saving this number to your contacts so you don't miss the notification. When answering, please say "hello" to prompt the message. There will be a brief silence before the message begins. 


Option 2 to Subscribe: Text Keyword

To subscribe for text messages only, TEXT the group's keyword to 38276.

  • Emergency Alerts & General Notifications - Keyword: UniversalCity
  • City Council Notifications - Keyword: UCcouncil
  • Event Notifications - Keyword: UCevents
  • Public Services - Keyword: UCservices

Existing Accounts

Universal City transferred users who were subscribed to the previous notification system to the new CivicReady alert system.

Some users were not able to integrate with the new system so we recommend logging into your account to check your account preferences.
